The Big Sky volleyball season officially ended on Thursday, Dec. 3 when Northern Colorado fell to Washington in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament ... Northern Colorado gave the sixth-ranked Huskies a run for their money in the opening round of the tournament ... The Bears, who were making their first appearance in the Division I tournament after winning this year’s Big Sky Championship, took the first set from the Huskies before falling short in a 3-1 loss ... Washington had only dropped a set to an unranked opponent one other time in 2009 ... Northern Colorado ultimately fell by scores of 27-25, 15-25, 22-25, 21-25 ... Senior Kenzie Shreeve closed out her career at Northern Colorado with 19 kills and eight digs. Allison Raguse, also a senior, added 15 kills, four digs and three assists. Senior Breanna VanDerMost led the Bears on defense with 13 digs, bringing her career total to 1,517, which the seventh highest total in the school records ... The Bears had one of the best seasons in program history. With 21 victories, Northern Colorado won more than it had in any other NCAA Division I season. It was also the most matches won by the Bears since winning 25 in 2004.
