Lumberjack Men Finish 4th at Nationals

Terre Haute, Ind. (November 23, 2009) - The NCAA Cross Country Championships were ran Monday morning at Indiana State University. The Northern Arizona men finished fourth in the team standings with 190 points, David McNeill led the Lumberjacks as he finished 2nd overall with a time of 29:07.

Following up McNeill's impressive finish were  Lumberjacks Jordan Chipangama (5th), Ben Ashkettle (59th), Ahmed Osman (74th), Jason Pedersen (95th), Andrew Belus (149th), and Simon Gilna (196th)

Oklahoma State won the men's team title with a score of 127 and Liberty's Samuel Chelanga won the individual title with a time of 28:41.

The women's race ended with Villanova taking the team trophy by posting 86 points, while Illinois senior Angela Bizzarri won the individual trophy with a time 19:46.

The Big Sky was represented by NAU's Veronica Pohl and Montana's Katrina Drennan. Both received at-large bids to nationals after their impressive finishes at the Mountain Regionals. Pohl made her second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championship and covered the 6K course with a time of 20:43.5 for a 38th place finish, Drennan placed 174th with a time of 21:51.2.
