Lopez Lomong led NAU to a fourth-place finish at nationals.
Northern Arizona's men finished fourth at the 2007 NCAA Cross Country Championship Monday, Nov. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind. The Lumberjack men were led by junior standout Lopez Lomong, who finished third in the 10,000-meter race with a time of 29:46.5. David McNeill placed 10th individually for NAU with a time of 29:56.8. Morten Bostrom finished 47th with a time of 30:40.6, while Jon Cardenas' time of 30:57.3 was good for a 75th place finish. Ben Ashkettle finished 105th with a time of 31:09.3, Justin Langdon placed 181st with a time of 31:46.1, and Eric Lynch's time of 32:06.6 earned him a 201st place finish.
The Lumberjack women placed seventh as a team in the championship, with Ilsa Paulson leading the way for NAU. Paulson finished the 6,000-meter race with a time of 20:56.1, good enough for a 30th place finish individually. Lesley Van Miert placed 55th for the Lumberjacks, with a time of 21:13.8. Amanda Boyd finished 113th with a time of 21:38.6, and Amanda Griggs placed 133rd with time of 21:46.7. Astrid Leutert's time of 21:53.4 earned her a 149th place finish, while Nell Rojas placed 224th with a time of 22:46.4. Kelsy Hardt ran the course in 23:02.1, good for 232nd individually.
FOUR BIG SKY RUNNERS NAMED ALL-AMERICANS: Northern Arizona's Ilsa Paulson, Lopez Lomong, and David McNeill, along with Weber State's Seth Pilkington, earned All-American honors Monday, Nov. 19 at the 2007 NCAA Championship. Lomong led all Big Sky Runners with a third place finish, marking the first time this year he did not take gold in a meet he competed in. Both Lomong and Pilkington were named All-Americans last year.
THREE WILDCATS, ONE EAGLE COMPETE AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP: Seth Pilkington represented WSU by placing 26th in the 10,000-meter race in Ind., finishing with a time of 30:21.1. Sariah Long placed 54th with a time of 21:12.9, while teammate Morgan Haws finished 88th with a 21:29.2 time individually. Eastern Washington's Mattie Bridgmon finished 64th at the championship with a time of 21:16.3.
