Nathan Roane - Big Sky Conference

Sacramento State’s Randy Dedini has been selected the Big Sky Conference Soccer Coach of the Year in a vote by the league’s eight head coaches.

Dedini, in his first season as head coach for the Hornets, led Sacramento State to the Big Sky Conference regular-season title and guided the Hornets to their first-ever Big Sky Conference Championship title last weekend. Dedini led Sacramento State to a 12-3-5 overall record, and a 4-0-3 record in conference games during the regular season.

In the postseason tournament the Hornets went 2-0 and outscored their opponents 5-1. Sacramento State defeated Portland State 2-1 in the semifinal game, and then beat Northern Colorado 3-0 to win the championship.

In conference play this season, Sacramento State ranked first in goals and shutouts. The Hornets also produced the league’s Offensive Most Valuable Player in Katie McCoy, five first team All-Conference players, one second team All-Conference player, and three honorable mention All-Conference players.
