Sacramento State’s Astha Madan has been selected as the Big Sky Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week after claiming medalist honors in her first spring tournament.
Madan, a freshman from Gurgoan, India, shot rounds of 76, 73 and 75 for a 54-hole total of 224 at the Cal State Northridge Matador Invitational. Madan won the tournament by three shots, and helped the Hornets to the team title in the eight-team meet.
The tournament was played Feb. 9-10 at the Wood Ranch Golf Course in Simi Valley, Calif. The Honets won by five shots over Santa Clara.
Madan was playing in just her second collegiate event. She missed the first three tournaments of the fall season while competing for India in the Asian Games. This is Madan’s first Big Sky Golfer of the Week honor.
