McSurdy, a 5-11, 196-pound senior from Boise, Idaho, stepped in for the league’s leading rusher who was out with an injury and responded by rushing for a career-high 266 yards on 24 carries with two touchdowns in the Bengals’ 46-28 win over Weber State. McSurdy gained 209 yards and scored two touchdowns in the first half. McSurdy scored on runs of 75 and 54 yards. The 266 yards is the third-best single-game effort in ISU history. It was the fourth-best performance by an FCS running back this season. The win gave Idaho State eight for the season, the program’s first eight-win season since 2003. The win also snapped an 11-game losing streak to Weber State. This is McSurdy’s first career Player of the Week honor.
