Demorest, a senior from Darby, Mont., won her first individual collegiate race at the Bozeman Running Company Invitational with a time of 17:16 in the women’s three-mile race. Demorest’s winning time was over 20 seconds faster than her sixth place finish in 2012.
 
Overall, MSU placed second in the meet with Division I competitors from Eastern Washington, Idaho State, Montana, Northern Colorado, Utah, Utah State and Utah Valley. Prior to the meet, the team was unranked in the Mountain Region and is now in 10th place.
