Eastern Washington’s Venky Jois has been selected as the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week after recording his third double-double of the season.
Jois, a 6-foot-7 true freshman forward from Boronia, Australia, scored a career-high 22 points with a career-high 13 rebounds in a 79-75 home victory over Cal State Fullerton on Friday, Nov. 30. Jois made 10-of-14 shots from the field and was 2-of-3 from the free-throw line.
He also had one blocked shot, one assist, and one steal. Eastern Washington rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to earn a victory in its home opener.
Jois has recorded double-doubles in three of his last four games. He was selected to the All-Tournament Team of the 2012 College Basketball Experience Hall of Fame Classic in Santa Clara, Calif., where he had two double-doubles.
