Portland State’s Whitney Phillips has been named the Big Sky Player of the Week for matches played the week of Nov. 9-16. The honors are the second straight for the junior ... Phillips led the Vikings to the 2009 Big Sky outright title this past weekend with two wins over Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado.
Northern Colorado and Portland State face off in Portland, Ore. on Saturday night in the biggest conference match of the 2009 season. The Bears and the Vikings both clinched berths to the postseason tournament last week and are tied for first place in the standings with 11-2 records. In their last meeting, Northern Colorado won 3-1 at home. With only two weeks left to play, the winner of Friday’s match could easily claim the regular season crown
