MSU’s Mogan and SUU’s Nickerson Earn #BigSkyXC’s Weekly Accolade
OGDEN, Utah – Montana State’s Ty Mogan and Southern Utah’s Angie Nickerson won individual titles at their respective meets over the weekend to earn #BigSkyXC Athlete of the Week honors.
Ty Mogan opened his season winning the MSU Cross Country Classic with a time of 24:51.37 in the five-mile race. Mogan won the race by more than 25 seconds to help Montana State win the meet with a team score of 22 points. The Bobcats placed all seven of their runners in the top-11 of the invitational.
This is the first career Athlete of the Week award for Mogan. The redshirt junior becomes the first Bobcat to win Athlete of the Week since Justice Lamer earned the weekly honor back in 2015.
Angie Nickerson of Southern Utah earned Female Athlete of the Week after a dominating performance at the UC Riverside Invitational. Nickerson won the individual title running the 6k race in 20:00.6 which was 19 seconds faster than anybody else. The Thunderbirds won the event with a team score of 31 points.
Nickerson is the first Thunderbird on the women’s side to win Athlete of the Week since Southern Utah joined the Big Sky in 2012.
