OGDEN, Utah (February 20, 2018) - Idaho’s Mikayla Ferenz was tabbed the Ready Nutrition #BigSkyWBB Player of the Week for the third time this season after becoming the Big Sky’s all-time leader for 3-pointers made (100) in a single-season.
Ferenz, a junior from Walla Walla, Wash., continued her outstanding season last week, helping Idaho extend its win streak to nine games. The Vandals went on the road and defeated both Montana State and Montana. It was the first time since the 1984-85 season the Vandals have beat both Montana schools in the same season.
Ferenz led Idaho with 29 points, seven rebounds and seven assists at Montana State. She shot 9-of-13 from the field and hit seven 3’s. She and teammate Taylor Pierce each reached 94 3’s on the season, marking an Idaho program record.
Ferenz continued to add to the Idaho single-season record on Saturday at Montana. She hit six more 3’s on Saturday, helping her to 24 points. She passed Pierce, who set the Big Sky single-season record (99) earlier in the game. Ferenz now has 100 3’s on the season.
The junior guard leads the Big Sky and ranks sixth in the NCAA with 22.8 points per game. She’s also second in the nation averaging 4.00 3-pointers per game.
