OGDEN, Utah (January 9, 2017) – With the conference basketball season in the Big Sky Conference underway, the league and its institutions have begun wholesale preparations and promotions for the 2017 Big Sky Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships.
The “Reno Night” promotions will continue this season, with league officials and representatives from Reno taking part at various institutions. This week, the organizations will travel to league games in Bozeman, Mont., to promote the tournament.
“We’re excited to begin the on-site promotions for the 2017 Big Sky Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships, by traveling to various institutions to promote the tourney,” said Big Sky Conference commissioner Andrea Williams. “This is one part of a multi-pronged effort to encourage fans to support the Big Sky’s student-athletes in Reno, and to experience great postseason basketball as teams compete for an NCAA automatic berth.”
As part of the visits, league and Reno officials will meet with fans, talk with program boosters, conduct sessions with local media and oversee “Reno Night” promotions. At various points throughout the season, fans will have the opportunity to earn all-sessions tickets to the 2017 championships, with a grand prize including hotel accommodations and other amenities.
The Big Sky and Reno delegations will attend one game this week, as the Montana State Bobcats host the Northern Colorado Bears on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 2:00 p.m. MST, inside Brick Breeden Fieldhouse’s Worthington Arena. This game will be a #BigSkyMBB contest.
Big Sky fans are encouraged to go to www.roadtoreno.com to book tickets and accommodations for the 2017 championships. Montana State University’s teams and fans will be staying at the Silver Legacy Resort-Casino, which is located just one block from the Reno Events Center.
The 2017 Big Sky Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships run from March 6-11, 2017, at the Reno Events Center. Every postseason eligible men’s and women’s program in the league will participate in the #RoadToReno.
