OGDEN, Utah (January 25, 2016) – With just six weekends of Big Sky men’s basketball action left in the season, no teams remain unbeaten and the race for the top four seeds, and first-round byes in the Big Sky tournament, is heating up. Idaho handed Montana its first conference loss of the season last Thursday and Idaho State gave Weber State its first Big Sky loss in dramatic fashion on Saturday.
Streaking on the Road: Both North Dakota and Northern Colorado picked up two road wins at Northern Arizona and Southern Utah last week. North Dakota had one of its largest margins of victory in school history in a 101-59 win over NAU last Thursday.
Homecourt advantage: Montana State picked up two home wins over Idaho and Eastern Washington last week in Bozeman. MSU guard Marcus Colbert scored 23 points in each game to help the Bobcats improve to 4-4 in Big Sky play.
Rebounds Record: Weber State’s Joel Bolomboy is the all-time career rebounding leader in the Big Sky with 1,148 boards and counting. The Weber State senior topped former Idaho State standout Steve Hayes (1,147) as he posted seven rebounds in the Wildcats’ loss at Idaho State on Saturday.
Top Four: The top four teams in the Big Sky standings at the end of the season receive first round byes in the 2016 Big Sky basketball championship.
