Montana's Robin Selvig Named Big Sky Women's Basketball Coach Of The Year

OGDEN, Utah (March 12, 2015) – Montana head women’s basketball coach Robin Selvig has been named the Big Sky Conference women’s basketball Coach of the Year by his peers. This marks the 20th time Selvig has earned at least a share of the honor and the 17th time he has earned the honor outright.
 
Selvig is in his 37th season at the helm of the Lady Griz program. In that time, he has led Montana to 35 winning seasons, 30 20-win seasons, 23 conference titles and 20 NCAA tournament appearances. Heading into the 2014-15 season, he had amassed a record of 821-266, a winning percentage of .755 and an average of 22 wins a season.
 
This season he has led the Lady Griz to another Big Sky regular season championship and the right to host the Big Sky tournament for the 20th time. UM posted a 20-7 overall record in the regular season and a 14-4 conference record.
 
Senior guard Kellie Rubel earned Big Sky unanimous first-team All-Conference honors and was named co-MVP by the league’s coaches. Teammate Carly Selvig earned her second straight Defensive Player of the Year award and UM senior Maggie Rickman, junior McCalle Feller and sophomore Kayleigh Valley were all named honorable mention.
 
Montana will face Eastern Washington in the Big Sky semifinals at 1:30 p.m. Mountain on Friday.
