OGDEN, Utah (October 27, 2015) -- The University of Idaho captured its first Big Sky Conference regular season championship last weekend with wins over North Dakota and Northern Arizona. The Vandals are 9-0 in conference play and have set a new season-high in conference wins.

The Vandals have the opportunity to have a completely unblemished conference record of 10-0-0 this weekend as they face Eastern Washington in Moscow on Friday at 3 p.m. Pacific. The last time a Big Sky team finished the regular season without giving up a tie or a loss was in 2001 when Weber State went 6-0-0 in conference play.

Montana plays the only non-conference game of the week as the Grizzlies travel to Austin for a battle with the University of Texas.

Five of the six Big Sky tournament teams have been set with three teams vying for the final tournament spot this Friday. Southern Utah hosts Northern Arizona with both teams’ tournament lives on the line. Sacramento State still has a chance to qualify as well as the Hornets host Portland State.

Qualifying Scenarios:
  • Southern Utah needs to defeat NAU and hope for a Sacramento State loss to qualify for the Big Sky tournament.

  • Sacramento State, needs to win against PSU and hope for a NAU tie or loss against SUU or a tie against PSU and an NAU loss.

  • NAU can qualify for the Big Sky Championship in three ways:
    • Defeat SUU
    • Tie against SUU and Sac State loss
    • Loss against SUU and Sac State loss
