NAU Men And Women Outdoor Favorites

OGDEN, Utah (March 19, 2014) - The Northern Arizona men and women topped the 2014 Outdoor Track and Field Preseason coaches’ poll.
In a vote by the 11 Big Sky Conference head coaches, Northern Arizona’s men were an unanimous choice to win the men’s championship tallying 121 points. Sacramento State was picked second with 104 points.
The Lumberjacks are the defending Big Sky Champions winning the previous two seasons. NAU will host the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championship on May 14-17 in Flagstaff, Ariz.
Rounding out the men’s poll was Montana (3rd, 88 points), Weber State (4th, 80), Montana State (5th, 78), Southern Utah (6th, 74), Eastern Washington (7th, 64), Idaho State (8th, 41), Portland State (9th, 37), North Dakota (10th, 23) and Northern Colorado (11th, 16).
Northern Arizona women were picked to win the 2014 title. The Lumberjacks received seven first-place votes for 116 points. Sacramento State was picked second with 104 points and four first-place votes.
The Hornet women have won the last six Big Sky titles.
Following NAU and SAC were Montana (3rd, 94 points), Weber State (3rd, 94), PSU (5th, 76), SUU (6th, 68), MSU (7th, 55), EWU (8th, 46), ISU (9th, 30), NC (10th, 25), UND (11th, 18).
Voting is calculated by each team receiving 11 points for a first-place vote, 10 points for a second-place vote, etc. Coaches were allowed to vote for their respective teams. Below are the final results with the number of first-place votes in parenthesis.
