North Dakota Advances To The Dance

The University of North Dakota won its first Big Sky Conference women's basketball tournament title defeating University of Montana 72-55 on Saturday in Grand Forks.
North Dakota earned the Big Sky’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. UND will have to wait until Monday to see who it will play. The pairings will be announced at 6 p.m. Central on ESPN.
Southern Utah will earn the Big Sky’s automatic bid to the WNIT tournament.
North Dakota’s Mia Loyd was named tournament Most Valuable Player. She was joined on the all-tournament team with teammate Madi Buck. Montana’s Torry Hill, Kellie Cole, Southern Utah’s Hailey Mandelko and Idaho State’s Lindsey Reed were also on the all-tournament team.
UND was led by Madi Buck, who had 14 points. Leah Szabla, Mia Loyd, and Allyssa Wall all added 10 points. Emily Evers led on the boards with 10.
UM was led by Torry Hill, who had 21 points. Jordan Sullivan led on the boards with six.
The Lady Griz shot 37.1 percent for the game to North Dakota’s 57.1 percent.
UND had a 35-27 lead in the first half and North Dakota had the largest lead of 20 with 10:24.
