Montana’s women’s basketball team learned its fate tonight for the NCAA Tournament. The Lady Griz earned a No. 13 seed and will play No. 4 seed Georgia on Saturday, March 25 in Spokane, Wash.

Three Big Sky Conference teams will compete in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament. Northern Colorado received the Big Sky automatic berth by finishing second in the conference. Eastern Washington and Idaho State both received at-large bids.

Montana will play Georgia on Saturday 30 minutes after the No. 5 seed Iowa State at No. 12 seed Gonzaga, which starts at 1 p.m. Pacific. Both games can be seen on ESPN2.

The winner of the two games will move on to play Monday at 6:30 p.m. Pacific.

The Lady Griz earned the Big Sky Conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by defeating Northern Colorado 56-43 in the conference tournament championship game.

This is the second time in three years that Montana has gone to the NCAA Championship. It went to Spokane in 2011 and lost in the first round to UCLA.

In 2000, Montana faced Georgia in Athens, Georgia, and lost 74-46.

The last time a team moved out of the first round was in 1995 when Montana defeated San Diego State in San Diego, Calif., and then lost to Purdue in the second round.

Bracket for the WNIT will be announced later Monday night.

Starting on Wednesday, Idaho State will travel to play BYU. On Thursday, Wyoming will host Northern Colorado and on Friday, Eastern Washington will travel to Seattle, Wash., to see Washington. All times are TBA.
