North Dakota Earns First Big Sky Win

North Dakota, Portland State, Sacramento State and Northern Colorado won their Big Sky conference matches on Sunday.
 
North Dakota defeated Eastern Washington 3-1, Portland State defeated Northern Arizona 2-1 in overtime, Sacramento State defeated Southern Utah 4-0, and Northern Colorado defeated Montana 4-0.
 
North Dakota 3, Eastern Washington 1: North Dakota won its first conference match since joining the Big Sky after it defeated Eastern Washington 3-1.  EWU’s Katy Allen scored the first goal of the match in the 25th minute.  Zoe Foster equalized the match with a goal in the 41st minute of play.  Kirsten Olson scored in the 60th minute for North Dakota to give UND the 2-1 lead.  With less than three minutes left, Andrea Hyduke scored an insurance goal for North Dakota, giving them the 3-1 win.
 
Eastern Washington outshot North Dakota 31 to 14.  UND’s Kristi Hestdalen recorded 14 saves in goal, EWU’s Nathalie Schwery had two.
 
Portland State 2, Northern Arizona 1, OT: Portland State remains on top of the standings after defeating Northern Arizona 2-1 in overtime.  NAU took an early lead after Cierra Gamble converted on a penalty kick in the 18th minute.  Eryn Brown equalized the match for Portland State with a goal in the 63rd minute, which sent the game into overtime.  In the 97th minute, PSU’s Cori Bianchini scored the game-winning goal.
 
Portland State outshot Northern Arizona 19 to five.  NAU’s Lauren Weaver made four saves; PSU’s Caitlin Plese made one.
 
Sacramento State 4, Southern Utah 0: Sacramento State moves to 3-2-1 in conference, after defeating Southern Utah 4-0.  The Hornets’ Gabriela Trenton recorded a hat trick.  SAC’s other goal came from Jordyn Rolling, who assisted two of Trenton’s goals.
 
Sacramento State outshot Southern Utah 15 to 10.  SAC placed nine of those shots on goal; SUU had two.
 
Northern Colorado 4, Montana 0: Northern Colorado sits in a three-way tie for second place with a 3-1-1 record, after defeating Montana 4-0.  Chandler Guetz had two goals for the Bears.  Paige Morris and Essence Ortiz-Lanier scored the others.
 
Montana outshot Northern Colorado 13 to 12.  The Bears placed nine of those shots on frame, while the Grizzlies had six shots on goal.
