Strawn, Hoon Earn Weekly Soccer Honors

OGDEN, Utah (August 21, 2012) - The Big Sky Conference has announced its women’s soccer players of the week for matches played from August 17 - August 20.  Idaho State forward Rachel Strawn has been named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Montana goalkeeper Kristen Hoon has earned the Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Strawn, a senior forward from Roy, Utah, scored three goals, leading ISU to a 2-0-0 start to the season. Strawn scored two goals, including the game-winner in ISU’s 3-2 overtime win against North Dakota State on Friday. She scored her third goal of the season in ISU’s 2-0 win over New Mexico State on Sunday.

Goalkeeper Kristen Hoon, a senior from Corona, Calif., played all 180 minutes in goal for Montana as the Grizzlies opened the season on the road with a 2-0 victory at Wyoming on Friday, and a 1-0 loss at Air Force on Sunday. Hoon made 12 saves against the Cowgirls and Falcons, and the only goal she allowed was a deflected shot in the 80th minute in Sunday’s loss.

Friday’s shutout was the fourth of Hoon’s career.
