NAU Men, WSU Women Win Championships
Women's Results
The Northern Arizona men and the Weber State women won the 2012 Big Sky Conference Cross Country Championships today in Flagstaff, Ariz., at Buffalo Park.
This is the sixth consecutive title for the NAU men and the second straight for the WSU women.
WSU’s Amber Henry won her second consecutive individual title, covering the 5K course in 16 minutes, 59.7 seconds.
Northern Arizona's Brian Schrader won the men's championship in 24 minutes, 55.9 seconds. The men ran 8 kilometers. NAU has now claimed the individual men's title eight consecutive seasons.
The Lumberjack men have won 23 Big Sky team titles, and 22 individual titles. Weber State has won five women's team titles, and four individual championships.
Weber State claimed the top three places in the women's race and finished with 29 points. Sarah Callister was second behind Henry at 17:02.1. Taylor Thornley was third at 17:06.9.
League newcomer Southern Utah was second with 36 points, followed by Northern Arizona with 112.
The NAU men also claimed the top three spots. Matt McElroy was second with a time of 24:36.3. Futsum Zienasellassie was third at 24:56.7.
The top 10 individuals were named to the All-Conference team.
