Ogden, Utah (September 7, 2010) - The Big Sky Conference has announced its women’s soccer players of the week for matches played from August 30 - September 5.  Northern Colorado forward Ariel Cook has been tabbed the Offensive Players of the Week, while Sacramento State goalkeeper Savannah Abercrombie has been named Defensive Player of the Week.

Cook, a forward from Gilbert, Ariz. scored two goals over the weekend, helping the Bears win the Air Force Academy Fall Classic. Both goals came in Sunday’s 2-1 win against The Citadel, including the game-winner coming in the 88th minute. The junior now has four goals on the season, which leads the conference. She also was credited with an assist in Friday’s 4-0 victory over Fairleigh-Dickinson.

Abercrombie made a season-high eight saves as the Hornets played to 0-0 draw with Long Beach State. The 49ers had been receiving votes in the NSCAA poll after knocking off top-25 squads Virginia Tech and Washington State the previous weekend. The junior from El Camino highschool now has 20 saves on the season and a 0.92 goals against average.
