PSU's Trammel and ISU's Williams recieve the honors

Ogden, Utah (August 30, 2010) - The Big Sky Conference has announced its women’s soccer players of the week for matches played from August 23-August 29.  Portland State midfielder Melissa Trammell has been tabbed the Offensive Players of the Week, while Idaho State goalkeeper Bailey Williams has been named Defensive Player of the Week.

Trammell, a junior transfer from Yakima, Wash., scored two goals over the weekend against Louisiana-Monroe and Albany. In the match against ULM her goal knotted the score at 2-2 and sent the match to extra time. The Vikings won 3-2 in double-overtime. On Sunday PSU took on Albany, and Trammell converted an insurance goal in a 3-0 win, on an assist from Teal Sigler.

Williams, a junior from Puyallup, Wash., recorded one save and allowed zero goals in her first half performance (45 min) against the College of Idaho. She helped the Bengals hold a 3-0 lead in the first period before a goal was tallied against ISU’s freshman keeper in the second period.  The Bengals won the contest 4-1 to open their home season. Against Utah State, the junior posted her fifth career shutout when she held the Aggies scoreless in a 0-0 tie. Williams played all 110 minutes recording seven saves against 17 shots, with nine on goal.
