Northern Colorado at Nothern Arizona
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 6, 2010) - Northern Colorado (11-12, 3-6 BSC) earned the season sweep over Northern Arizona (5-17, 3-6 BSC) without leading scorer Whitley Cox, who did not make the trip due to an injury. The Bears picked up their first road victory in Big Sky Conference play of the year with a 66-56 victory.
For the second-straight conference game, Northern Colorado freshman forward Lauren Oosdyke tallied 24 points, leading all players in the game. Junior guard Courtney Stoermer and sophomore forward Kaisha Brown were also in double figures in points with 15 and 10, respectively. Oosdyke and senior guard Lizzie Cooper led the team with six rebounds each, while Stoermer had a game-high five assists.
The Lumberjacks were led by freshman standout Amy Patton, who tallied 19 points and six rebounds. Northern Arizona endured a significant loss in the first half when junior point guard Vickie Toney went down with a leg injury. She did not return to the game.
Montana State at Weber State
OGDEN, Utah (February 6, 2010) - Montana State freshman Rachel Semansky posted her first collegiate double-double with a team-high 16 points and 11 rebounds to guide Montana State (12-11, 5-5 BSC) to a 76-59 win over Weber State (8-15, 2-9 BSC) at the Dee Events Center on Saturday night.
Semansky, a 6-0 forward from Highwood, Mont. connected on seven-of-12 from the field and added two steals and an assist. Also in double-figures for the Bobcats were Sarah Strand, Erica Perry and Katie Bussey all with 14 points, apiece.
Wildcat Caitlin Anderson led all players with 19 points, which came on 7-of-13 shooting from the field. Joey O'Neill added seven points, while Tonya Schnibbe posted a season-high 12 assists.
Montana at Idaho State
POCATELLO, Idaho (February 6, 2010) - The University of Montana (12-10, 7-3 BSC) got double-figure scoring from four different players and limited Idaho State (9-14, 4-6 BSC) to 33.3 percent shooting in a 67-53 victory over the Bengals Saturday night at Pocatello, Idaho.
Senior Lauren Beck continued her torrid shooting against the Bengals, hitting five of her eight shots and both of her 3-point attempts to lead the Lady Griz with 16 points. Beck also grabbed a game-high seven rebounds and matched junior Jessa Loman Linford with a team-high four steals.
Senior Oana Iacovita posted a game-high 19 points, her third straight contest leading the Bengals. Iacovita shot 8-of-13 from the field as well as putting away her only trey and both of her attempts at the line. The forward also pulled down five rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal. Freshman Morgan Wohltman posted her first double-figure point game since her return with 14. Senior guard Andrea Videbeck chipped in 12 points.
Sacramento State at Eastern Washington
CHENEY, Wash. (February 6, 2010) - Sacramento State (10-12, 6-4 BSC) won its sixth game in a row, the most in the school's Division I history, defeating the Eastern Washington (14-8, 7-2 BSC) by the score of 78-69 on Saturday, Feb. 6 at Reese Court.
The 10 wins mark the most by the Hornets since the 1995-96 season, and the win streak is the longest since the 1990-91 team won 10 in a row during the Division II era.
Sacramento State senior Charday Hunt led all scorers with 21 points, although she did the majority of her damage at the line, going 12-of-15 from the charity stripe. Ashley Garcia scored 13 points, while Erika Edwards finished with 12 points and four three-pointers. Junior Emily Christensen posted her fourth double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds.
The Eagles were led in scoring by forward Nicole Scott, who finished the contest with 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Scott also had a team-high nine rebounds. Jessica Huntington finished with eight assists while committing zero turnovers. Julie Piper, Kyla Evans, Brianne Ryan and Tatjana Sparavalo all finished in double-figures.
