Bears, Hornets Notch League Wins

Northern Colorado and Sacramento State picked up Big Sky Conference men's basketball victories on Sunday, while Portland State fell in a non-conference game.

Devon Beitzel scored 24 points and hit two 3-pointers in overtime as Northern Colorado held off Northern Arizona 70-63. NAU's Cameron Jones missed a 3-pointer at the end of regulation that would have won the game for the Lumberjacks.

Will Figures scored 21 points in the win, while Neal Kingman had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Northern Colorado moved to 8-3 in conference, one game behind league-leading Weber State. The Bears and Wildcats meet Saturday in Ogden.

Sacramento State's Justin Eller scored 17 points to lead the Hornets to a 74-67 victory over Eastern Washington at the Hornets' Nest. Sacramento State shot 52.2 percent from the field.

Aaron Broussard hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Seattle to an 80-77 win over Portland State at the Stott Center. Julius Thomas scored 19 points and had six rebounds. Jamie Jones scored 18 points and had nine rebounds in the loss.

Weber State clinched a spot in the postseason tournament on Sunday because of Sacramento State's win over Eastern Washington.
