Wildcats, Grizzlies Earn Men's Victories

League-leading Weber State held on for a win over Montana State, while the Montana Grizzlies earned a victory over Idaho State on Saturday night in Big Sky Conference men's basketball action.

Weber State rebounded from a loss to Montana on Friday with a 75-71 victory over the Bobcats in Bozeman on Saturday. Sophomore Damian Lillard scored 25 points and pulled down eight rebounds. He put the game away with three seconds left, hitting a pair of free throws. Montana State's Marquis Navarre was fouled and went to the free-throw line with 4.1 seconds remaining with a chance to tie the game. He missed the first free throw, and was called for a lane violation on the second try, an attempted miss.

Franklin Session scored 14 points and Trevor Morris added 11 off the bench for the Wildcats, who moved to 9-2 in conference.

Bobby Howard scored 25 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the Bobcats, who dropped to 7-5 in conference play.

Senior Anthony Johnson scored a season-high 30 points as Montana won its fourth straight game, downing Idaho State 91-68. Johnson was 7-of-10 from the field and 12-of-14 from the free-throw line.

Junior center Brian Qvale went 8-for-8 from the field and finished with 18 points and nine rebounds, for UM which has won seven of its last eight. Montana is 8-4 in conference in sole possession of third place.

Broderick Gilchrest scored 22 points for ISU, which played without leading scorer Amorrow Morgan. The senior guard sustained a sprained ankle early in a Friday loss to Montana State.

Five Big Sky teams are in action on Sunday. Second-place Northern Colorado plays host to Northern Arizona at Noon Mountain. The game will air live on Altitude and Comcast Sports Net Northwest.

At Noon Pacific, Portland State plays host to Seattle.

At 1 p.m. Pacific, Eastern Washington and Sacramento State meet in the Hornets' Nest.
