OGDEN, Utah (February 15, 2010) - Idaho State’s Oana Iacovita has been named the Big Sky Player of the Week for games played the week of February 8th through the 14th. This is second weekly award this season for the senior forward from Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The Bengals collected two road wins this weekend over Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona. Idaho State’s victory at Northern Colorado ended a five-game losing streak.
Iacovita posted back-to-back double-doubles in the wins. She collected 11 points and 11 rebounds against the Bears, shooting 4-of-12 from the field and hit 3-of-3 from the line. Against Northern Arizona Iacovita recorded 22 points and 12 rebounds. She was 7-of-13 from the field as well as being 5-of-6 from the line. She knocked down all three of her three point attempts.
The senior now has four double-doubles on the season, three of which have been in conferenc play. Idaho State, 6-6 in league play, remains tied with Montana State for fifth place in the Big Sky standings.
