Official Walter Camp Release

Four Big Sky Conference football players have been selected to the prestigious Walter Camp Football Foundation 2010 Football Championship Subdivision All-America Team.

Eastern Washington linebacker J.C. Sherritt was one of four players selected to the squad for the second consecutive season.

Joining Sherritt from the Big Sky Conference were Montana State senior offensive tackle Mike Person, Montana cornerback Trumaine Johnson and Idaho State punter David Harrington.

The Big Sky Conference and Southern Conference tied for the most players on the 24-man team.
Sherritt, a 5-foot-10, 220-pound senior from Pullman, Wash., was selected as the Big Sky Conference Defensive MVP and is a candidate for the Buck Buchanan Award. Sherritt enters Friday’s semifinal game against Villanova with 150 total tackles – 13.5 for loss – three sacks, three interceptions and three forced fumbles. Sherritt ranks second in Big Sky history with 406 career tackles.

Johnson, a 6-3, 199-pound junior from Stockton, Calif., 44 tackles, four interceptions and 11 pass breakups. Johnson returned two interceptions for touchdowns and anchored a defense that ranked third in the nation against the pass. He was a first team All-Conference selection.

Person, a 6-foot-5, 295-pound senior from Glendive, Mont., started 45 games during his career. Montana State’s offense finished the season ranked in the top 10 nationally in scoring, passing and total yards. Person was a first-team All-Conference selection.

Harrington, a 6-3, 184-pound junior from Marina, Calif., leads the nation in punting with an average of 44.3 yards per punt. He punted 69 times with 13 inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

Person, Johnson and Sherritt were named to the American Football Coaches Association All-America Team last week.

Villanova offensive tackle Ben Ijalana and Liberty kicker Matt Bevins were the other two-time selections. Appalachian State safety Mark LeGree was tabbed for the third straight season.

The team was selected by the head coaches and sports information directors of the FCS schools and certified by the accounting and auditing firm Marcum LLP.
